Gahara and PAM Education Committee are collaborating on a design competition targeting architecture students to create a batik design for a copper block suited for millennials.
Designed to provide an opportunity for students to be part of the creative economy, this competition is unique as it exposes them to both batik and entrepreneurship that can help educate them about culture and how to help sustain the local arts and crafts community with their contribution.

Themed “Aspirana Millennia'' to allow a wide girth of what excites the younger generation, the competition seeks students to explore and innovate ideas and to combine elements of architecture to create what they feel would be a suitable pattern for a batik print on fabric.
The winning motif will be converted into a copper block and hopes to put a modern and fresh spin on batik not just for Gahara, but for the batik community in Malaysia.
Eligibility covers Individual or Group participation (maximum of two (2) per group).
This competition is opened to PAM Student Members which is currently studying fulltime architecture programs in Malaysia/Overseas. Non-members are encouraged to register as PAM Student Member (free) via online at: http://www.mypam.org.my/membership/
Credit for winning entries shall be given to both the participant and their represented lecturer/supervisor/institution.
No registration fee required (Free admission).
Entries must be submitted by 16th December 2020 (EXTENDED DEADLINE), 11:59pm via online submission form.
All submissions must be in softcopy only.
All submissions description/presentation shall be in English only.
No mark or identification on any of the submission material is allowed. Failure to comply shall result in disqualification.

ROUND 1
Students require to create a design composition for a copper block based on the following:
Maximum size 20cm X 20cm (no minimum restriction), can be of any shapes (rectangle, circle, triangle, etc) and must fuse architectural elements and submissions in High-Resolution Portable Network Graphics (.png) only.
Project Description - one (1) A4 sized, 500 words (font-size: 12 Times New Roman in Microsoft Words format).

If in the opinion of the Panel of Judges that none of the entries meets the expected standard, the Jury may reserve the right not to award any of the prizes and the decision shall be solely at the discretion of the Jury. The decision of the Panel of Judges shall be final.
